Hammock Chair Stands
When you don’t have an eave, roof or sturdy tree to use for hanging your hammock chair, then you need to purchase a stand. There are a host of options available. Before making a purchase, you should ask yourself a few questions. We recommend the following:
1. Is this stand compatible with the hanging chair or swing that we own or are about to purchase?
The last thing you want to do is to purchase a stand that won’t work with your hammock chair. While most stands are compatible with the majority of hanging chairs or swings, it’s important to check the manufacturer’s booklet to see what they recommend.
2. Is this stand sturdy and safe? Will it hold the weight of the people who will be using the chair?
Some stands hold up to 600 lb. weight capacity. Always check the manufacturers’ recommendations.
A variety of products are used in the construction of stands including stainless steel, metal or wood. Stainless steel costs more than the other types but will last a long time. Metal is less expensive and light weight. Wood looks great and weathers well, but it may require some upkeep in order to protect the wood from the elements.
3. Will it hold up in the weather conditions where we live?
If you live in an area with extreme heat or sun exposure, rain and snow, then you may prefer a stand that is made of durable-all-weather powder-coated steel. That type of stand is made to resist rust.
4. How much work is needed for the set up?
Most packages or on-line product descriptions include a statement about the set up. Look for ones that require minor assembly or easy set up and break down. Many stands come with all the hardware. Some manufacturers sell the hardware separately, and many don’t require the use of tools for assembly.
With a hanging chair stand, you can enjoy sitting out in your yard, garden, deck, veranda, and patio in style. And don’t stop there; you can also enjoy the comfortable seating option indoors too! Or you can move the stand between a number of places. The possibilities are endless. |
